Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Marrakech, your private driver will pick you up from your accommodation at 08:00 am for a rewarding Telouet & Ait Benhaddou day trip from Marrakech. Drive through the spectacular High-Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), which is the highest pass in the north of Africa.
Later, you will follow a secondary road that leads to the Telouet castle, which is located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. This impressive castle, even if it is crumbling but it has been subject to restorations, was built by the wealthy Glawi family that controled the former caravan route that linked Marrakech with the Sahara Desert & the Atlas Mountains.
Continue on the track to the dramatic Ait Benhaddou Village, which consists of many Kasbahs (fortresses) that are striking examples of the southern architecture. It was an important commercial center in the former caravan route but it has been used as a backdrop for shooting Hollywood Films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiaor, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia…etc. Have a guided walking tour of the Kasbah while learning about its architecture and rich history.
After lunch, we will drive back to Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains, which we will reach in the evening.
